The CW has given the green light for the SECRET CIRCLE pilot! It is the sixth and final pilot to be picked up by The CW this season, reports Deadline.com. Based on the three-book series by L.J. Smith, Secret Circle tells the story of a young woman who moves to a new town and discovers that not only is she a witch and part of a secret coven, but she’s also the key that will unlock a centuries-old battle of good versus evil.

Kevin Williamson (co-creator/executive producer of The Vampire Diaries) recently joined the Secret Circle project as executive producer, after initially being associated with the The Vampire Diaries’ companion series. No longer part of the companion series, he now re-teams with author L.J. Smith who along with Secret Circle also wrote The Vampire Diaries. Williamson worked with Andrew Miller on the original script of Secret Circle, which was penned by Miller. Both of them will join Elizabeth Craft, Sarah Fain, Leslie Morgenstein, and Gina Girolamo to take on executive producer duties. Julie Plec is not currently attached to the project, but may be in the future. Secret Circle will be produced by Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios.
