TVLine.com reports that Jesse Metcalfe (Desperate Housewives) has been cast in the role of Christopher, Bobby and Pam Ewing’s adopted son on TNT’s DALLAS remake. Alex Russell was the other of two finalists in contention for this role. In addition, Julie Gonzalo (Veronica Mars) has landed a major role in the pilot as Rebecca, Christopher’s fiancée.

The update of the ‘70-‘90s nighttime soap Dallas comes from writer Cynthia Cidre (Cane) and Warner Horizon. Michael M. Robin (The Closer) will direct. This remake moves the narrative of the original version a generation into the future, centering on the offspring of bitter rivals and brothers J.R. and Bobby Ewing. J.R.’s son, John Ross (Josh Henderson), and his cousin Christopher (Metcalfe) clash over the future of the Ewing dynasty while the fate of Southfork weighs in the balance. Joining Metcalfe and Gonzalo in the pilot will be original Dallas cast members Larry Hagman as J.R., Patrick Duffy as Bobby, and Linda Gray as Sue Ellen. Jordana Brewster has also been announced as the character of Elena, who is locked into a love triangle with Christopher and John.

Most recently Metcalfe co-starred on NBC’s crime drama Chase, while Gonzalo has appeared in Nikita, The Glades, and CSI: Miami.
