BLUE BLOODS “My Funny Valentine” Review

BLUE BLOODS (CBS) My Funny Valentine

BLUE BLOODS “My Funny Valentine” Season 1 Episode 14 – A young girl is kidnapped, putting Danny and Jackie on the case chasing down every lead they can to catch the kidnappers and save the kid’s life. Only problem is that the evidence adds up to the girl planning it all with her boyfriend to get her parents to kiss and make up in time for Valentine’s Day. After that, I was prepared for it to all end simply; up until a real kidnapper got involved and everything suddenly got very real.

Valentine’s Day was a running theme in the episode, from Renzulli describing the dinner he was cooking for his wife to Frank finding all of the cards he’d ever given to his wife for the holiday in a box. I’m still not sure what’s going to happen between Erin and Charlie though. She cancelled the date that Nicky set up for them, but I’m getting the strong impression that we haven’t seen the last of him. Then again that might be because I’m finally starting to warm to the guy, so maybe it’s just wishful thinking on my part.

My favorite bits…

Chloe trying to reconcile her parents. Very sweet but I felt for her, having to do it in the first place.

Being just as surprised as Erin that Charlie was the doting uncle type and that he could dance. Remember last week when I sad I would wait to hold judgment on him? Let’s just say he’s starting to grow on me.

Danny calmly pointing out to the Carsons that they needed them to work together.

Jamie asking Renzulli how he was going to top the snow globe he gave his wife for their anniversary. Aw, I thought his Valentine’s Day plans of making his wife dinner sounded sweet.

Danny reassuring Chloe’s best friend that she was doing the right thing by letting them know about the secret boyfriend.

Jackie remarking how hard it was to believe that something as small as diamonds could be worth a girl’s life. Yeah, I’ll second that.

Frank not being surprised that Baker and the other officer didn’t go down the street as he ordered.

Grandpa describing Valentine’s Day as “ugh.” – LOL.

I think Jamie’s description was way better, Valentine’s Day is SO a pressure point for people who don’t have anyone in their lives when it rolls around on the calendar.

Frank finding out that his wife had saved every Valentine’s Day card he’d ever given her.

Danny finding Drew dead in the bathroom. Uh oh, so much for catching two kids trying to fake a kidnapping to get the girl’s parents back together.

Danny smacking Drew’s stoner roommate to get his attention. LOL.

Almost forgiving that silly girl for setting the whole thing up as soon as I saw how terrified she was and when she explained she’d only done it to get her parent’s together, not for the money.

Frank not telling Inez what he had done to help her son. Aw, so sweet.

The whole meeting of the lonely hearts club (aka the Reagan family). The “better luck next year” toast was awesome.

What did you think of this episode of Blue Bloods? Got any favorite bits or least favorite bits of your own? I’d love to hear from you!
