Lifetime Networks’ President and General Manager, Nancy Dubuc, announced that Lifetime has picked up two character-based procedural dramas, AGAINST THE WALL and EXIT 19, for launches later this year. In a press release, Dubuc elaborated, “The relationships and environments so brilliantly created in both of these dramas are unique to today’s landscape and promise to deliver the high quality auspices and great emotional storytelling you can expect from Lifetime in the future.” Both Against the Wall and Exit 19 are cop dramas featuring strong female leads.

In Against the Wall, Chicago police detective Abby Kowalski played by Rachael Carpani (The Glades, NCIS: Los Angeles) decides to join the department’s Internal Affairs division, causing a rift within her family of cops. Treat Williams (127 Hours) and Kathy Baker (Medium) star as Abby’s parents. Nancy Miller (Saving Grace, CSI: Miami) executive produced the pilot from Universal Cable Productions with writer/creator Annie Brunner (Saving Grace, Huff). Michael Fresco (Providence, JAG) directed the series’ pilot.

Exit 19 centers on divorced mother Gloria Sheppard played by Ally Walker (Sons of Anarchy, Profiler), who juggles her personal life raising her sons and her professional life as an LAPD homicide detective. The drama co-stars Tisha Campbell-Martin (Rita Rocks) as Gloria’s partner Michelle; Chris Payne Gilbert (Dexter, Bones) as Davey, Gloria’s troubled younger brother; and Miguel Ferrer (Traffic) as their boss, Lieutenant Valdez. The drama is from ABC Studios and CBS Television Studios. Writer Jeffrey Bell (V), Nina Wass (Less than Perfect) and Gene Stein (Accidentally on Purpose) executive produced the pilot, which was directed by Peter O’Fallon (The Good Wife, House).

Both series have received 13 episode orders, increasing Lifetime’s number of scripted programs to four this year. Lifetime’s other scripted series Army Wives will return in March, and Drop Dead Diva will premiere its third season this summer.
