Jesse McCartney Lands Role in LOCKE & KEY

Jesse McCartney - Lock & Key (Fox)

Jesse McCartney has been signed to play the male lead in Fox’s LOCKE & KEY, according to Deadline.com. He will play Tyler Locke, the oldest of three children. McCartney’s musical talents reportedly will also be put to use, as his character retreats into his music, due to the guilt he feels about his father’s death.

Locke & Key is based on the original horror comic book series by writer Joe Hill and artist Gabriel Rodriguez. It gives the account of Nina Locke and her three children, who attempt to rebuild their lives at the family homestead in Massachusetts after the death of their husband/father. The youngest child soon discovers that the mysterious house has keys hidden inside its walls that unlock incredible things. However an evil entity is also seeking out these keys and will use any means possible to achieve his goals.

As the final actor to be cast for the series, McCartney joins Sarah Bolger (The Tudors) and Skylar Gaertner as Kinsey and Bode, Tyler’s siblings; Miranda Otto (Lord of The Rings) as Nina Locke, the mother; and Nick Stahl (Sin City) as Duncan Locke, the uncle. Deadline.com also previously revealed that Harrison Thomas has been named for “a recurring role as a troubled teen possessed by an evil spirit,” which is assumed to be Sam Keller, the teen who murders Rendell.

Fox is targeting for a 2011 fall premiere.
