THE DEFENDERS “Nevada V. Donnie The Numbers Guy” Review

THE DEFENDERS (CBS) Nevada V. Donnie The Numbers Guy

THE DEFENDERS “Nevada V. Donnie The Numbers Guy” Season 1 Episode 13 – One of the many fun things about my job is that I get to check out TV shows I may not otherwise watch. I had of course heard of The Defenders but hadn’t yet gotten around to taking a look at it. So when I got offered the chance to review it, I jumped at it and so far, so good.

Never having seen the show before, I was definitely not expecting the kidnapping of a main character in the opening scene, but it totally got my attention. Okay so it turned out that wasn’t actually what happened but I still liked how that whole scene played out.

As I continued to watch this episode, the other thing I found was that I was really intrigued by Nick’s character. I had no idea he was a guy who decided on a career change so late in life and became a lawyer in his thirties. The fact that he was in the mob before has got me even more curious about this guy and I’m definitely looking forward to learning more about him as I continue to watch the show.

My favorite bits…

Nick telling his kidnapper not to be a Vegas cliché.

Nick agreeing to take Donnie’s case… while on his knees and surrounded by cops.

Pete telling Zoey that she needed to get less weird friends. LOL,

Everyone sighing at the thought of Nick being “less yell-y” when he was an employee and not a boss.

Jumping half out of my skin when Pete’s car blew up. I really hated seeing that happen to such a pretty car.

Nick taking a pic of Pete’s car blowing up… glad to see he figured out how to use the camera on his phone.

Everything that Nick said to convince Donnie’s daughter to give her father another chance.

Zoey describing the guy who had been paying to put flowers on the victim’s grave for seventeen years as “a special kind of creepy.”

Nick telling the attorney that if she wasn’t going to test the creepy guy’s DNA, he was going to keep questioning her integrity.

Loving this line: “I don’t know if the only the guilty run, but only the innocent return.”

Pete asking the guard to give Donnie and his daughter a second. So sad that they didn’t get the not guilty verdict.

Pete trying to guess what Nicky D. stood for. My favorite guess was “Nicky Double Hotfudge Sunday” – LOL!

Nice trick, Nick finally revealing the secret as a truck goes by. Foiled again!

Nick and Pete waiting around and picking up Cayhill’s coffee cup out of the trash to get his DNA. Brilliant!

What did you think of this episode of The Defenders? Got any favorite bits or least favorite bits of your own? I’d love to hear from you!
