THE OFFICE “The Seminar” Review

THE OFFICE "The Seminar"

THE OFFICE “The Seminar” Season 7 Episode 14 – First off, I loved Ricky Gervais’ cameo in this week’s episode of THE OFFICE. His exchange with Michael and the “that’s what she said!” moment, was probably the highlight of the episode for me.

“The Seminar” was a Andy centric episode, and for those of you that read my reviews, you know that Andy is pretty much my favorite part of The Office. I loved his explanation of his seminar when he said “I’m a terrible salesman. I haven’t been making any sales lately. Or ever.”

Poor Andy!

His seminar was supposed to include Jim, Phyllis, Dwight, and Stanely as speakers, but Jim bows out and inexplicably vacates the premises when he sees on of the seminar’s attendees. The others decide to bail on Andy when they don’t feel that the clients will result in any paper sales for themselves; leaving Andy to find replacements.

Michael is attempting to perfect a “character” that he’s working on, and with Holly’s help infiltrates the seminar as a ringer to help Andy close the deals. As you can imagine, Michael takes the time that he gets to spend with Holly a little too far. I was holding my breath, because he ALMOST had it, and then just blew it at the end by asking for a kiss.

I’m not giving up hope yet, though!! I still think Michael’s farewell should be him living happily ever after with Holly. These two were made for each other, and to not have them together? I won’t allow myself to think about it.

We learn that Jim was actually grade school friends with one of the people attending the conference, and also that Jim was in a high reading group than said friend. Jim explains that he told the guy that he needed to hang out with kids that were as smart as he was (I’m paraphrasing here), so Jim is a little embarrassed and tries to duck away from his old friend all day.

Well, the kid still holds a grudge and when he meets up with Jim in the break room, gets some GREAT digs in. “You work here? This must be a secret entrance to a science lab…” and “Where’s your jet pack? Genius paper salesman…” Oh, Jim. Well, you sort of deserved it.

I’m wondering if Erin (who I still don’t overly enjoy) and Gabe will stay together. The writers sort of set up Andy coming between the two of them (VERY briefly) this week, so I guess we can hope.

What did you think of The Office this week? It wasn’t the best, but I feel like the episode could’ve been a lot worse based on past episodes of this season!
