THE MENTALIST “Bloodsport” Review

THE MENTALIST (CBS) Bloodsport

THE MENTALIST “Bloodsport” Season 3 Episode 11 – I don’t know why but I always feel a little nervous about reviewing a new show, especially one that I’ve never watched before. I’ve been hearing about The Mentalist forever. I’ve heard that it’s a great show and I want to do it justice for all you fans out there. I know that there are subtleties of the storyline and characters that I probably missed, but I’m catching up fast and very happy to have taken it on.

For instance, I don’t know what happened with the whole Rigsby storyline, but I am definitely intrigued by it and want to know more. I find it a good sign when a show I’ve never seen before can draw me in like that. I can’t wait to get to know these characters better and learn all their quirks (as I’m sure they have them, all great characters do).

My favorite bits…

The coach asking Jane why he was staring at him.

Jane using the “These aren’t the droids you’re looking for” on the bouncer… and it actually working.

Laughing at the fact that everyone kept calling the victim “the book writer” instead of just “writer”.

Lisbon asking the investigator to extend the “courtesy” of letting her know when he was going to question one of her people.

Finding the father’s comment interesting. I don’t think journalism is dying, it’s just going in new directions. After all, people do write what’s out there on the internet.

Jane’s few boxing dance steps when he walked into the gym.

Jane giving boxing tips to the coach.

The way Jane casually started the all-out brawl between the fighters, while never spilling a drop of his tea.

The dude saying “oops” when he found out that the gun he was given was used in a murder.

Cho’s telling Rigsby that he wasn’t lying for him. I dig a guy with that much integrity, imagine my surprise when he didn’t stick with the decision. Hmm..

Knowing as soon as they led Reyes away that he wasn’t the killer.

The way they played out how the murder happened through flashbacks.

What did you think of this episode of The Mentalist? Got any favorite bits or least favorite bits of your own? I’d love to hear from you!
