CALIFORNICATION “Exile on Main Street” Advance Review

CALIFORNICATION “Exile on Main Street” Season 4 Episode 1 -There are few TV shows these days that I would classify as brilliant, but Showtime’s CALIFORNICATION is one of them. The hit series returns Sunday January 9th at 9:00 PM for it’s fourth season. If you can recall season 3 ended with Hank being put into a police car after a huge fight had broken out between him and Karen. The fight started when Hank revealed the truth about his sexual relationship with Mia when she was just 16 (unbeknownst to Hank).

Season 4 picks up where all the drama from season 3 left off. Now that the truth is out that Hank was the true author of “F***ing and Punching” (not Mia) he is back on top. His book is a hit and Hollywood is interested in making a movie out of it. On the home front, Hank’s troubles are far, far from over. Hank struggles to hold things together with the help of his best friend and agent Charlie Runkle, his new lawyer, and a Hollywood star. Carla Gugino (Entourage, Watchmen) and Addison Timilin guest star.

In my opinion, Californication is off to a rock solid beginning. Hank is just as cool and lovable as ever, as are Karen, Marcy and Charlie. Also, I am a fan of Carla Gugino’s and am thrilled that she is guest staring. Although we are only one episode into this season, a good foundation has been setup already for several different story lines. After Hank’s fling with Mia in season 1, I’ve been dreading the day that everyone found out – and now that it’s all out in the open I feel a sense of relief. My big wish for the season is that Hank and his family can finally move past all this and on to better things – although I’m sure it won’t be easy.

Don’t forget to check out the season 4 premiere of Californication this Sunday January 9th at 9:00 PM on Showtime. After you’ve watched it please leave me a comment and let me know what you thought!
