Kathy Griffin’s MY LIFE ON THE D-LIST Is Over

Kathy Griffin

Not the best of news today for us Kathy Griffin: My Life On The D-List fans, but according to The Hollywood Reporter, Miss Griffin is no longer on the D-List.

Bravo confirmed yesterday that the show’s sixth season, which aired last summer, was indeed the last. Instead, the network has ordered four stand-up comedy specials starring Griffin (the comedienne has previously performed eight original comedy specials for the network). One new hourlong special will air quarterly this year. Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List has won two Emmys and is nominated for a Producers Guild of America Award.

Griffin had this to say about the decision:

“It was a really tough decision because I think of the D-List as pretty much my baby for the last six seasons, and I also think it was really time to stop doing it. Reality is great, but I really didn’t set out to be a reality star. So now it’s time to spread my wings and show that I’m a little different than Kate Gosselin.”

Well I guess I can take some solace in knowing that this was her decision, but I’m really going to miss My Life On The D-List. It’s not the type of show that I thought I’d like at all, nor did I really expect to like Kathy Griffin all that much. But surprise surprise, the more I watched it, the more I liked it. I especially got a kick out of watching all of the adventures she had with her assistants, not to mention her mother and her dogs. Honestly I think I’ve laughed harder at that show than I ever did at her stand-up. Guess it’s time for me to give the stand-up another try, since that’s the only way to see her now. Sigh.
