HAWAII FIVE-0 “Ke Kinohi” Review

HAWAII FIVE-0 “Ke Kinohi” Season 1 Episode 13 – Most of the time I can’t say that I enjoy being wrong but this is one of those times where I have no problem with it whatsoever. I reported last week that Taryn Manning was leaving Hawaii Five-0 and I thought I was pretty sure I knew what that meant. When the previews showed her getting kidnapped, I figured that was it for McGarrett’s little sis.

Well, like I said, I was wrong. Turns out Mary is fine and well at the end of this episode, she’s just been sent off to the mainland by her big brother to be safe. And it’s no wonder either, after all that happened in this one. It started off with a bang, or maybe I should say with a stun, and the energy and action pretty much never stopped from there. We finally found out exactly what happened to McGarrett’s mother and why she was killed and though it all seems to be pretty well wrapped up in the end, I’m sure this isn’t the last we’ve heard from this story. After all there is still the Wo Fat connection, which wasn’t really delved into at all.

My favorite bits..

How quickly McGarrett could go from totally asleep to total badass when he hears a strange noise in the middle of the night.

Danny saying that he had been stunned once on Halloween. Okay, did anybody else really want to hear that story? Such a tease, Danno. Not nice.

Danny telling McGarrett that if his face popped up on his phone first thing in the morning, he might not answer it either. LOL!

McGarrett having to tell Danny about the “other kind of beach boy”.

Thinking it was kinda stupid of Mamo to tell Mary the truth about her mother, at least without telling McGarrett that he’d done it. Come on! A cop tells you not to trust anyone after his wife dies and you tell his daughter all about it without realizing that might get her hurt??

Danny calming McGarrett down by pointing out that Mary was valuable to whoever took her. Aw, such a great partner.

The look on McGarrett’s face when he started heading down towards the car in the helicopter. I’m filing that one under “if looks could kill”.

Being totally surprised when they got Mary out of the trunk. Wow, I didn’t think it would be that easy.

Wondering why Mary went through all that research without telling her brother.

Finding out that Mary took pictures of everything in the box. Genius!

Digging that fancy schmancy computer they used to get the pics off of the phone.

Loving McGarrett’s rather unusual method of entering the club.. and Danny telling him he had a number of a therapist to give him because he didn’t walk up the steps “like a human”. Ha!

Danny calling McGarrett “Steven” before demonstrating the Williams Family favorite way of getting a guy to open his mouth. I have something really naughty to say about how he wouldn’t have had to do that to me.. but I probably shouldn’t so I won’t. 😉

Danny asking Kono and McGarrett if they were dating when they both got the cipher thing. I was kinda with him, all that stuff was going over my head. All I can say is thank goodness for the rewind button on my DVR.

Feeling pretty much like how McGarrett looked when the governor turned out to be Hiro’s “lunch date”.

The governor asking McGarrett for a beer. Now there’s a request I didn’t expect coming from her.

Danny asking McGarrett if he should pack for Jersey after watching how the meeting went with the governor.

Danny telling McGarrett that he never liked him more than when he decided to go hardcore after Hiro.

Literally saying “Whoa!” when the gang members came out of nowhere and started shooting at Danny and McGarrett.

McGarrett picking up the phone and telling Hiro that he wasn’t dead yet. Awesome!

Thinking something bad was going to happen as soon as McGarrett said he wasn’t like his father because he didn’t have a wife and kids to protect. Um.. how about a sister?

McGarrett coming face to face with the man who killed his mother.

The goodbye between McGarrett and Mary.

So what did you think of this episode of Hawaii Five-0? Got any favorite bits or least favorite bits of your own? I’d love to hear from you!
