DEXTER Names New Showrunner December 21, 2010 Dexter, News DEXTER is getting a new showrunner for the second season in a row. Deadline reports that executive producer Scott Buck will take the reins from Chip Johannessen for the upcoming sixth season of the Showtime drama. While Johannessen, who only took over last year, led Dexter to its highest ratings to date in the fifth season, Buck has been with the show since the second season and he became an executive producer in season four, serving as second in command to both Johannessen and his predecessor Clyde Phillips. He has a strong rapport with the writers, all of whom will still be with the show for the sixth season and he has written or co-written the last three season finales. Before joining Dexter, Buck was a writer-producer on HBO’s Six Feet Under.
