The Chiller network is releasing their first original special this Friday, December 17th at 8:00 PM. called CHILLER 13: THE DECADE’S SCARIEST MOVIE MOMENTS. The special is 90 minutes long and it was produced by Associated Television International, an Emmy Award Winning production company. I enjoyed this special because I am usually too much of a wimp to watch scary movies in the theaters or on DVD. The special was fun because it’s a countdown show (which I love), and the clips are narrated by a fun group of pop culture and horror movie experts. I don’t want to spoil anything by revealing the list of 13 movies that they cover, but I will say it’s a good list, and the commentators know their stuff when it comes to horror.

Some of the narrators include Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead), Steve Niles (30 Days of Night), Tony Todd (Final Destination) and comedians Dan Gurewitch and David Young. For me, this was the perfect way to enjoy horror: plenty of jokes and no scary, suspenseful music. I like that the Chiller network is offering up an alternative to all the feel-good, family, holiday specials. I feel like Chiller has scored a home run with their first original special and I hope this isn’t the last we see from them. I would like to see more original specials with other horror-inspired themes. Here are some other horror-inspired count-down lists that I think would be entertaining: scariest children in horror movies, the best surprise endings in horror movies, and the scariest movies of all time.

Be sure to check out Chiller 13: The Decade’s Scariest Movie Moments this Friday, December 17th at 8:00 PM on Chiller. Then, come back and leave me a comment and tell me what you thought, unless of course, you are too scared!
