SUPERNATURAL “Caged Heat” Review

SUPERNATURAL (CW) Caged Heat

SUPERNATURAL “Caged Heat” Season 6 Episode 10 – It’s strange to want to start a review with the words “I’m speechless”, especially when I’m looking at over 700 words of notes about this episode, but that’s still kinda how I feel. This episode blew my mind on multiple levels and I hardly know where to begin.

I guess I’ll begin at the beginning – Crowley walking out in the first scene in a butcher’s apron and slicing at his doppelganger had to be one of the most interesting things I’ve seen on this show so far, and considering what we’ve seen on this show, that’s saying something.

Then there was the truth behind why Samuel had been working for Crowley. All this time I had assumed he’d been doing it to get Sam’s soul back, not to get his daughter back. Very interesting twist to have him turn on the boys, and for the first time (at least that I can recall), we have true war within the family. Skirmishes between the brothers, their dad and even Bobby we’ve seen. Dean Winchester vowing to kill his own grandfather the next time he lays eyes on him? Not so much.

Then there was the fact that it seems like Sam’s got a new super power. Without emotions he can see straight through demons – spotting Meg was scared, spotting the other demon was too intent on killing them and not doing the job – very cool.

Finally there was the whole mind screw that came from making us all think that this entire season was going to be about the boys trying to find a way to get the better of Crowley and get Sam’s soul back. Cas killing Crowley was something I never, ever saw coming. I’m sad to see him go as I loved him as a villain and I adore Mark A. Sheppard, but I gotta admit I enjoyed the hell out of being shocked.

Overall I have no idea where Supernatural is going from here and honestly, I like it. I know it’s going to be good as this season so far has been fantastic, and I’m ready for wherever else they want to take me, RoboSam and all. 😉

My favorite bits..

Real Crowley telling shapeshifter Crowley that his exceptional good looks weren’t going to buy him any mercy.

Really not wanting to know what Crowley was gonna do with the speculum.

The demon claiming he couldn’t understand Dean because he didn’t speak “little bitch”. LOL.

Sam telling Dean to stock up on “Soap on a Rope” for his daily rape shower.

The look on Dean’s face when he asked Meg’s henchman if he was gonna kiss him.

Sam lying his ass off about the arc of the covenant… and Cas falling for it.

The verbal sparring match between Cas and Sam.

Dean telling Samuel that working for demons to get someone back was their Achilles heel.

Practically dying of laughter at Cas watching porn “because it was there” and wondering why the pizza guy would slap the girl in the rear.

Truly dying of laughter when Cas looked down at his lap in confusion and Dean said “great now he’s got a boner.”

This bit:
Samuel: “This is what you boys do, sit around watching pornos with angels?”
Cas: “We’re not supposed to talk about it.”

Cas describing what was happening to Sam’s soul as a “mutilated thing”. Oh, poor Sammy!

Being just as confused as Sam and Dean when Meg suggested she was going to hold off the hellhounds and then started making out with Cas. Nice way to get his angel knife though.

Being very impressed with the moves that Cas learned from the pizza man.

Trying very hard not to picture what Sam was standing in if he thought Dean standing in pee was lucky.

Having the biggest WTF moment ever when Sam bit his own wrist, until I saw what he did with the blood. Freaking genius!! I especially enjoyed the bloody smile. Nice!

Kinda admiring the way Crowley got himself out of the devil’s trap.

The complete and total hissy fit that I had during the commercial after Cas killed Crowley. In deference to my roommate, it was a silent hissy fit, but still.

Cas wondering why Dean had been thinking of giving him an hour with Meg before he would have killed her. Aw, poor Cas, methinks he needs more than a kiss to figure that one out.

Cas admitting that things weren’t going well for him and wishing that he was down with then most of the time.

Sam having a very good point when he said that he pays attention when angels and demons agree on something.

What did you think of this episode of Supernatural? Did you see Crowley’s death coming? Do you still want Sam to get his soul back, even if it’s damaged? Got any favorite bits or least favorite bits of your own? I’d love to hear from you!
