LAW & ORDER: LOS ANGELES “Playa Vista” Review

LAW & ORDER LOS ANGELES Playa Vista

LAW & ORDER: LOS ANGELES “Playa Vista” Season 1 Episode 8 – LAW & ORDER: LOS ANGELES was back this week with “Playa Vista” and episode that centered on a pro golfer, his wife, son, and mistresses.

Overall, I felt the episode was okay. It wasn’t anything spectacular, nothing really jumped out at me, but it kept my interest for 42 minutes, which is more than I can say for a lot of television.

I felt “Playa Vista” was pretty predictable. I pretty much knew what was going to happen approximately five minutes into the episode. To be fair, Law and Order is difficult to switch up the formula; especially when it worked for years with the other series in the franchise. But this episode was ripped directly from Tiger Woods, and while I like plot lines that mirror current events something just didn’t sit right with me.

“Playa Vista” was… for lack of a better word, eh.

Winters and TJ were great – they’re becoming great characters that work well with each other and I can finally see them becoming the pair of detectives that are expected in a Law and Order series.

I’m also discovering that I pretty much love Megan Boone as Lauren Gardner. It took me a while to warm up to her, but this episode, something just clicked for me. Terrence Howard playing DA Dekker continues to be my favorite out of the series regulars.

The guest stars were great once again. I will forever see Marc Blucas as Riley on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but I bought him as Chip Jarrow… as much as I didn’t want to. He played the sleazy golfer pretty well, and Bellamy Young as his wife.

Young played the typical crazy woman role PERFECTLY; her scenes when she confessed to pretty much setting her son up to murder his father’s fiancé were the best out of the episode.

Overall Law and Order: LA kept me entertained, but not the way the last few episodes have. I’m hoping I just need to get back into the swing of things after a week off.
