PRIVATE PRACTICE “What Happens Next” Review

PRIVATE PRACTICE (ABC) What Happens Next

PRIVATE PRACTICE “What Happens Next” Season 4 Episode 8 – After last week’s episode I know we all wondered how long it would take for everyone to find out what really happened to Charlotte and as we saw tonight, it didn’t take long at all. Addison told Sam but everyone else basically figured it out on their own, with just a few clues and hints here and there. This group knows each other that well and some (like Violet) have their own damage to help them see the signs in her.

I’m glad they’re not dragging out this bit with Charlotte trying to keep this terrible secret from everyone, though I know it will still take a good long while until she’s anything but healed. I think each episode will show another step in the process for her, which is painful to watch and my admiration grows with each step she takes.

The other storyline that got to me in this episode was the shaman versus regular medicine debate with Coop and Pete. I like that they didn’t just call the dad “crazy” and leave it at that. I do believe that healing someone’s spirit can help to heal their body and I love that they ended it with both methods being used hand in hand, which is how it should be. One cannot work without the other.

My favorite bits…

Sam asking Addison if she wanted to play doctor. LOL.

Coop referring to the tools of Violet’s profession as “blah blah blah” and then promptly taking a nap on her couch.

Sheldon telling Addison that she’s a living, breathing reminder of the attack for Charlotte. Wow, so true.

Sam using the term “AddiSam”. LOL!

Charlotte thanking Sheldon for “doing nothing”.

Violet and Pete each figuring out what really happened to Charlotte on their own.

Charlotte asking Coop to lie really close but not touch her. Oh man, my heart broke for both of them.

Charlotte reaching out to hold Coop’s hand. I found that simple gesture way more romantic than any of the times they jumped each other’s bones in their offices.

Charlotte’s little smile as she sat down at her desk and turned on her computer.

Violet telling her terrible story to Charlotte – the “shh, shh, shh” part really got to me for some reason. *shivers*

Totally understanding Charlotte when she got angry and threw things in her office. If you ask me, it was about time she got up to anger.

Sheldon making the connection between the rapist he treated and Addison calling in the rape kit with Sam at her side.

Charlotte asking Amelia to go to a meeting with her. Now I don’t know why, but that was the first thing in this episode that made me break into tears. Something about her reaching her breaking point finally, realizing it and then asking for help.

What did you think of this episode of Private Practice? Got any favorite bits or least favorite bits of your own? I’d love to hear from you!
