NCIS: LOS ANGELES “Bounty” Review

NCIS: LOS ANGELES (CBS) Bounty

NCIS: LOS ANGELES “Bounty” Season 2 Episode 8 – The theme of tonight’s episode was definitely trust. While it was played mostly for laughs with Kensi and Deeks, Sam and Callen showed us what it was really about. We know that Sam and Callen are the perfect partnership and tonight we not only got to see that in action, we got to hear a bit about how it came about in the first place… and then find out it was complete bull.

For about two whole seconds I wasn’t happy to hear that Hetty’s story wasn’t true. Then I thought about it and realized that Sam and Callen’s trust in each other probably didn’t come in one all-defining moment, it came from years of working together and getting to know one another.

Seeing the way Kensi and Deeks were struggling, Hetty took it upon herself to give them what they needed to start trusting each other, and how can we blame her? She’s the leader and she does what she has to in order to keep her team alive. Building trust amongst them has to be high on that list and if that’s what Kensi and Deeks needed, so be it.

Oh man, I still kinda wanted that story to be true, as it was a really good story. Something tells me it’s going to make an appearance in fanfiction though so I guess that’ll just have to do.

My favorite bits…

Deeks apparently feeling about his gun the way most people do about their toothbrushes.

Callen asking Sam if it was normal to snore while meditating.

Not being able to help the fact that every time they said the name “Booth”, all I could picture was Seeley Booth from Bones.

Deeks and Kensi discussing the way Sam and Callen would do it as they caught the guy they were chasing.

Hetty asking Deeks if he was accusing her of being a harbinger of doom. LOL.

Sam telling Callen he was going to meditate on the art of locking his ass in the trunk.

Seeing that Sam actually did lock Callen in the trunk.

Callen keeping count of how many times they’d pulled the corrupt-agent-trades-his-partner routine.

Deeks’ and Brandon’s discussion about Reseda versus Van Nuys. I guess I’ll have to take the Van Nuys side considering I used to live there.

Deek telling Brandon never lived more than 2 miles away from his childhood home. Hm, interesting.

Hetty taking one look at Sam and Callen and saying she sensed “impending mayhem”. I like that, it would totally make a great name for a band.

Finding out that tea played a major role in Hetty’s approval to send the boys to Afghanistan.

Kensi figuring out that Deeks had written the note on the back of the card. Wow, he totally had me fooled too.

Deeks sharing his gun with Kensi and why he uses it.

Finding out that Hetty made up the whole freaking story about Sam and Callen.

So what did you think of this episode of NCIS: Los Angeles? Got any favorite bits or least favorite bits of your own? Were you fooled by Hetty’s story or did you know all along she was making it up? I’d love to hear from you!
