90210 “Mother Dearest” Review

90210 "Mother Dearest"

90210 “Mother Dearest” Season 3 Episode 8 – This week’s episode started with a flash to the end and then started back at the beginning which was fun. It was also good to see that at least one of the endings changed. Ade finally came to her senses and introduced her real boyfriend, Navid, to the world on the red carpet. She also finally took charge when it came to Victor. It is pretty bad when even Joe Jonas can see your manager is a sleaze ball after only meeting him for a couple of minutes. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem that Adrianna will have her happy ending, does it? That little moment between Silver and Navid and the almost kiss seems to have had a lingering effect on both of them. The commenter from last week that mentioned a possible affair between them seems correct after all. What do you think? Good idea or not? I kind of like the Silver and Navid angle. They seem pretty good together.

Speaking of Navid, I am not sure where they are going with his father and the child porn story, but it can only lead to bad things. No matter how angry you are at discovering that about your father, would your first instinct be to tell the school counselor? Of course she has to report it. I predict that this tale is going to end similar to that of Nate on Gossip Girl and soon enough Navid is going to find himself without any money and without any family. What do you think they are going to do with this plot? Will Navid’s father end up in prison?

As the title suggests, this episode also dealt with mothers. The first was Jen who would also probably be the first to tell you that she is not much of a mother. Dressing your baby for a trunk show? Leather pants on a baby? Wondering how to avoid that whole diaper thing because it makes your baby’s pants droop? Not normal, but neither is Jen. Naturally Jen would take someone else’s baby because she doesn’t know how to treat her baby as anything other than another accessory in her life. Even when she tries, she ends up leaving little Jack to fall to the ground. However, given all of the insanity that is Jen, you could tell she wanted to try and she does love Jack. That is why I was disappointed that they had her leave. Although it does seem like typical Jen behavior, did anyone else want her to stay and figure it out?

The other mother involved in tonight’s episode was Annie and Dixon’s. Although Harry is long gone, she is still wearing her wedding ring. After seeing the divorce papers, Annie and Dixon concoct the lamest scheme to get Harry back. As my eyes rolled at their naivety, I then remembered they were supposed to be in high school. Have the plots of 90210 grown so outlandish that I think ones that actually might occur in high school are too simple?

What I liked about this episode was Naomi and Ivy’s abilty to put past grudges behind them for the common good of getting back at Oscar who certainly deserved it. A tiny piece of me is still sad that he will not be signing his marriage certificate with Naomi and that pen. I must be attracted to the player types. I also liked how Dixon hit Oscar who just took it with an understanding look. I guess if you deflower a guy’s girl when she is heartbroken, you at least deserve one hit.

What did you think of tonight’s episode of 90210? Do you want a Silver and Navid hookup? Will Jen return for her baby? Should Liam and Navid shun Ivy just because she slept with someone else after Dixon broke up with her? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
