Battlestar Galactica

Coming hot on the heels of Caprica‘s demise is the third series in the rebooted Battlestar Galactica franchise. BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: BLOOD & CHROME will take place in the tenth year of the first Cylon war, building on the world briefly glimpsed in the Battlestar Galactica: Razor movie aired in 2007.

Originally slated as a webseries, BSG: Blood & Chrome has instead been picked up as a two-hour movie/backdoor pilot and will focus around a beloved staple character of the Battlestar Galactica universe:

“As the battle between humans and their creation, a sentient robotic race, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a brash rookie viper pilot enters the fray. Ensign William Adama, barely in his 20’s and a recent Academy graduate, finds himself assigned to the newest battlestar in the Colonial fleet… the Galactica. The talented but hot-headed risk-taker soon finds himself leading a dangerous top secret mission that, if successful, will turn the tide of the decade long war in favor of the desperate fleet.”

Fans of the rebooted Battlestar Galactica – which went off the air last year – may be happy to know who is behind the pilot: Michael Taylor wrote the teleplay from a story by[David] Eick, Taylor and Bradley Thompson & David Weddle. All had heavy involvement with Battlestar Galactica. There’s no word yet on whether Bear McCreary will return to score BSG: Blood & Chrome.
