More Details on Louise Fletcher’s PRIVATE PRACTICE Role

Academy Award-winning actress Louise Fletcher, best known as Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, will guest star on an upcoming episode of Private Practice. She’ll be playing the mother of Tim Daly’s Dr. Pete Wilder, and it seems she isn’t the apron wearing June Cleaver type of mom, as she’s currently serving time in prison.

“Pete witnessed her murder this guy who was living with them,” Tim Daly tells TVGuide.com. “He doesn’t know who his father is. His mother’s had this long string of men because she’s a drunk, and the one guy that kind of stuck around? Pete witnessed her stab him to death.”

On tonight’s episode, Pete is forced to talk about the past when Amy Brenneman’s character, Violet, gets curious. “Violet pushes him to [reveal] it. He doesn’t want to talk about it or revisit it,” Daly says. “Even after all these years it’s still a fresh wound for him.”

As we previously mentioned, along with Louise Fletcher, Kyle Secor will guest star as Pete’s brother Adam in episode 9.

Private Practice airs Thursdays at 10pm on ABC.
