HAWAII FIVE-0 “Nalowale” Review

HAWAII FIVE-0 "Nalowale" Review

HAWAII FIVE-0 “Nalowale” Season 1 Episode 5 – A body is found underwater by a bunch of tourists and turns out to be the daughter of the US Ambassador of the Philippines. With the girl’s sister still missing, the Governor puts Five-0 on the job to help her good friends find their daughter. Discovering that the dead girl had drugs in her system, they find that both sisters were abducted by a forced prostitution ring. That leads them to the man who hired the ring to kidnap the Ambassador’s daughters for him. The man behind it all is with a Philippine terrorist group and isn’t interested in money at all, but with the help of the team, the family is reunited.

My favorite bits…

Danny pointing out that he thought McGarrett could be happy sometimes.. like when ‘Guns N’ Ammo’ puts out their holiday guide.

Feeling so bad for Danny knowing that he had to give up his weekend with his daughter.

Dr. Bergman (played by the wonderful Masi Oka from Heroes) suddenly realizing that he wasn’t the only one in the room.

Cracking up at the entire conversation between Catherine and Mary (aka “the sister”). Especially this bit-
Mary: “Old house, thin walls.”
Catherine: “Oh God!”
Mary: “Yeah, you said that a lot.”

Dr. Bergman telling the guys he doesn’t trust phones.

Loving this bit-
Danny: “I wouldn’t know, I was still playing Ms. Pac-Man.”
McGarrett: “Oh yeah, you ever get to double pretzel level?”
Danny: “Triple banana, bitch.”

Danny wanting to know why McGarrett wasn’t noticing the fact that two hot women were “eye humping” him.

Danny finally figuring out what McGarrett’s little smiles meant.

The way Danny smacked the creep in the face when they forced him to drink his own drugged cocktail. Nice.

McGarrett turning on the air horn in the creep’s ear.

Kono telling the lady she’d be sure her dog found a home when she went to jail, and getting the lady to talk.

Danny wondering how many other things McGarrett’s girlfriend did for him other than catch his bad guys for him.

McGarrett putting Danny on the computer to get the visual they needed by pointing out that the controls were just like Ms. Pac-Man.

Danny’s “Oh!” as he watched McGarrett take out one of the bad guys from his seat in the “penalty box”.

McGarrett pulling some nice moves to take out the terrorist guy. Whoa.

Danny saying that he didn’t mind the “book’em Danno” this time.

Not being at all surprised that Mary was checking out the stuff in the toolbox and wondering if she might find something that McGarrett didn’t.

Thinking that McGarrett’s idea of a date sounded pretty good to me.. beach, sunset, grilled steaks over an open fire.

I can’t wait for Scott’s knee to heal so that Danny can start getting back into the action. But that piece of bias aside, I liked this episode of Hawaii Five-0. They’ve really done a great job of shooting around his injury without sacrificing any of the storylines. I especially enjoyed them putting him in charge of the cameras this time with all of the Ms. Pac-Man references.

What did you think of the episode? Got any favorite bits or least favorite bits of your own? I’d love to hear from you!
