CHASE “Above The Law” Review

Chase "Above the Law" Review

CHASE “Above The Law” Season 1 Episode 5 – A man defrauds a bunch of people out of millions of dollars and goes on the run when he realizes that he actually will be going to prison for it. Annie and the team see that he’s not their average fugitive. Rothchild’s got access to money and connections that might be able to get anything he wants. But the more they look into him, the more they find that he actually has no friends or family, making their job a little harder. When they discover his true identity, they see that Rothchild is actually a man named “Smurl” and grew up poor. They trace him back to his roots, where Smurl has gone to find his grandmother. When the man discovers that his last bit of family has died, he meets a new friend and manages to borrow a crop dusting plane. Literally throwing herself in his way, Annie is able to stop him before he gets off the air.

My favorite bits…

Being able to see the moment a man goes from normal to violent as Rothchild suddenly turned on one of his victims.

Finding out that Jimmy takes everyone out hunting as a rite of passage in the team.

Jimmy telling everyone that a “dollhouse” was a place where guys keep their mistresses. Huh, here I thought it was a place where Eliza Dushku hung out.

Everyone teasing Luke about having the super expensive coffee machine.

Ben telling Annie that getting handcuffed by her didn’t sound too bad.

Annie guiding the partner’s wife on how to protect herself with Rothchild in the house with her. Oh man, I would’ve been scared out of my wits, too.

Kinda doubting that someone could jump out a two story window onto a couch cushion without getting hurt but then again, I haven’t tried it yet.

The way they use the soundtrack in this show – having Annie listen to whatever music the suspect likes to get into their head, which allows us to hear some great songs.

Annie pointing out to the wife that Smurl, the ugly name she didn’t like, was her last name too. LOL.

Thinking Annie seriously must have a death wish. Last week she climbs onto a moving truck and this time she climbs onto the wing of a plane. Damn, girl.

Ben calling Annie on his own phone to ask her out. Something tells me that she’s probably gonna say yes next time.

Smiling like an idiot when I saw the preview for next week and that Enver Gjokaj is going to be in it. Too funny after all of the “dollhouse” talk in this episode, since he was in a show called Dollhouse. LOL.

Overall I’m still liking Chase and especially the way they let us get to know the fugitives. Sometimes I find myself forgetting how bad these people are, they are humanized so well. Then of course they do something horrible and I remember how much I want the team to catch them.

What did you think of the episode? Got any favorite bits or least favorite bits of your own? I’d love to hear from you!
