NCIS: LOS ANGELES "Little Angels" Review

NCIS: LOS ANGELES “Little Angels” Season 2 Episode 5 – A commander goes missing and the team is sent to investigate but what they find is the commander looking for his daughter. He hasn’t seen her since the night before when they had a fight about a boy. When they get a video of the girl being kidnapped and buried alive, it sets off painful memories for Sam. The case falls out of their jurisdiction, but he wants to continue looking to repay a debt to the partner who gave his life in that hole, so Sam could live to save another life someday.

The details of the kidnapping matches another murderer who was put away by the FBI, making it look like they have a copycat killer on their hands. Then they get some evidence that leads to the original kidnapper’s brother and soon it’s brother against brother as each one tries to say that it’s the other who is guilty of the crime. In the end they find that the sons of the innocent brother had too many visits with their uncle. They decided to try killing for themselves, taking his advice to bury the victims so that “the feeling would last for days”. The team finds them and they lead to the location where the girl is buried, allowing Sam to pull her out just in time and fulfill his promise.

My favorite bits…

The shot of the girl buried making me feel very claustrophobic all of a sudden.

Kensi asking Sam if he was afraid of clowns like Deeks or just clowns in general. It’s a valid question.

Kensi revealing that she has a phobia about back hair.

Hetty saying “I will always love the Gaga”. Ha!

Sam’s flashback when he saw the video of the girl being buried.

The commander telling Callen and Sam that he trusts NCIS and asking them to stay on the case.

Hetty asking Sam not to turn his back on her.

Kensi claiming a “teeny tiny bladder” as an excuse for breaking into a locked garage. I’m gonna have to remember that one.

Lukas pointing out that they only found two girls as if that somehow made things, what, better? What a creep. I was kinda hoping he’d do something that would have made Deeks punch him out or something.

Callen telling Hetty that he respected Sam’s privacy but he needed to know what was going on, then Hetty showing him Sam’s file.

Everyone thinking they’d found the missing girl but only finding the third victim from the previous crime.

Callen asking Sam about Bosnia and getting the whole story of what happened there. So awful.

Sam staring down and stopping a plane. Whoa.

Sam coming up with the idea to plant fake evidence of a glove being left behind to force the killer to get scared enough to come out of hiding. Nice.

Saying “OMG, it’s the boys!” when Sam and Callen started chasing the hooded figures through the woods.

Sam re-living his own rescue and hearing the words of his dead friend saying that his job was to save someone else. I guess he’s done that now – what a great scene.

Sam giving the girl his friend’s dogtags. I actually choked up a little at that.

Sam admitting to Callen what really scares him is losing his partner.

Callen refusing to hug it out with Sam as he had spotted him getting into poison oak.

Hetty telling Sam to drop his drawers and putting on rubber gloves, then turning around to find Sam and Callen had flown the coop. LOL.

Overall I thought this episode of NCS: Los Angeles was pretty intense and I liked getting to see more into Sam’s background. Also, the new girl didn’t annoy me as much in this episode. I think having her take a few steps back helped me to get more used to her. I still miss Nate but at least I’m not detesting her as much as I was before. This is a good thing. LOL.

What did you think of the episode? Got any favorite bits or least favorite bits of your own? I’d love to hear from you!
