LEGEND OF THE SEEKER The Complete 2nd and Final Season DVD Review

Legend of The Seeker Season 2 DVD
The second and final season of LEGEND OF THE SEEKER has been released on DVD and as a huge fan of the series, this is the perfect DVD to add to my collection.

Legend of the Seeker is based on Terry Goodkind’s “The Sword of Truth” novels. The series follows the story of Richard Cypher (Crai Horner), a woods guide, who also happens to be the Seeker of Truth destined to defeat the evil tyrant that is Darken Rahl (Craig Parker) emperor of D’Hara. Helped with Kahlan Amnell (Bridget Regan), a Confessor, and the great wizard wizard, Zeddicus Zu’l Zorander (Bruce Spence), Richard is able to defeat Darken Rahl at the end of Season One, but is Rahl really gone?
In the second season, Richard, Kahlan and Zedd realize that defeating Darken Rahl was only the beginning and bigger and badder things are coming. The Keeper of the Underworld is now rising and the trio must find the ‘Stone of Tears’ in order to defeat him.

The second season, like the first is full of adventures and drama. If you were a fan of the first season, which I’m guessing you were if you are looking into season two, then you will not be disappointed. Season two includes everything that I loved about season one, including lots of Richard/Kahlan moments. But that’s not all, we also get a new regular character, Cara Mason (Tabrett Bethell), the Mord-Sith who helped Richard in the first season finale. It’s always risky to introduce a new regular character, especially when the original core actors are so great together, but Cara was a very welcome addition to the group and by the end of the season, it was as if she had been part of the show since the beginning.

The DVD includes all 22 episodes from the second season, which in itself is reason enough to get it (at least for me), but if you also enjoy special features, the DVD includes a few things you might enjoy.

REDEMPTION OF A MORD’SITH: MEET CARA – A behind-the-scenes look at series newcomer Tabrett Bethell and how she joined the cast as the Mord-Sith Cara. If you are a fan of the character, like me, it’s a fun featurette to find out how this new character came about.

UNDER THE UNDERWORLD – A featurette which looks into the design of the Underworld for the series. You will find out how artists and designers constructed the physical Underworld, and learn about the techniques that were employed to convey dark tones of anger and agony through makeup and set design.

DELETED & EXTENDED SCENES – I’m not usually a fan of deleted scenes but I do enjoy watching them now and then, especially if they add something to the series. But if you enjoy them, well then you will be happy to know there are quite a few included on the DVD:
– The Story Of Panis from episode #201 – “Marked”
– The Mother Confessor’s Return from episode #211 – “Torn”
– Who’s Got First Watch? from episode #214 – “Bound”
– Walter’s Transformation from episode #218 – “Walter”
– What Could Have Been from episode #222 – “Tears”
– The Importance Of Death from episode #222 – “Tears”

And to get you even more excited I have included one of the deleted scenes, “What Could Have Been,” below for you to enjoy.

Overall, the Legend of The Seeker Complete 2nd and Final Season DVD is a must have if you are a fan of the show, especially since this is unfortunately the last of Legend of the Seeker that we will ever see, *snif*. While the special features are not the best that I have ever seen, getting to watch season two over and over again makes it all worth having.
