THE APPRENTICE Season 10 Episode 4 Recap

THE APPRENTICE

THE APPRENTICE Season 10 Episode 5 – On THE APPRENTICE, this week the teams were given the task to create a viral marketing video for Popcorn, Indiana – a popcorn company. The teams met the heads of the company, as well as the minds behind the viral hit ‘no pants subway ride’, to get a better idea of what they want out of this. Once they figured out it was all about integrated the brand with the stunt they picked the team leaders. Even though Wade had said in last week’s boardroom that he would lead Octane the next go around, Clint was set on heading the team. He knew that with another weak team leader the guys were a goner, especially with David still on the team. Mahsa, of course, stepped up as team leader and off they ran to their respective war rooms.

The ladies on Fortitude decide to base their video on folks who can’t stop eating the popcorn, not even when they workout. Not sure where the stunt is in watching a bunch of people exercise and eat popcorn, but Mahsa and the rest of the team were psyched about the idea. Tyana, last week’s winner and mortal enemy of Mahsa, wasn’t so gung ho on the idea and recommended that they needed something bigger and bolder. Thinking she would delay any progress, Mahsa sends Tyana along with Polly and Liza, who apparently weren’t contributing, to buy costumes and supplies, while the other woman continue to tweak the creative.

On the other hand, Clint and the boys of Octane were full steam ahead with their big concept. They put together a huge group in front of the Trump Tower to orchestrate a popcorn fight. And even with the rain, they created a massive stunt out on Fifth Avenue – a huge popcorn fight. Wade was the only one who was a little hesitant as it might not have promoted the brand well and it could be a bit too violent for kids watching. And what made their team probably work the best is David, who cut out early for a broken tooth, not being around.

In the boardroom, the guys are confident that they won the challenge since they created an actual stunt. The women seem to believe in their project, except of course for Tyana, who openly says she didn’t like the video and thought it didn’t actually fit the challenge they were given. Turns out Octane was right and the folks at Popcorn, Indiana thought their concept was spontaneous, large and true event. It made the executives laugh out loud, even though the brand tagline was a bit hidden in the message. The execs didn’t hate Fortitude’s version, but they thought the video was contrived and it didn’t actually fit the challenge. Mahsa brings back Tyana, who she believes is the weakest link, and Liza, who for some reason had Mahsa’s back the whole time.

When they ladies get back in, somehow because Tyana didn’t like the concept she became the reason they lost the challenge. The women dislike her so they went out of their way to call her out, and Mahsa knows that if she just yells she will win. Trump apparently thought that while the video wasn’t great, the concept wasn’t actually what held them back, but somehow it was Tyana. Hey girl, at least you got some cash from Russell Simmons when you were lucky enough to chat him up after your big win.

Week after week, these women continue to attack each other and completely throw teamwork out of the competition. It’s bothersome as a woman to see all of these ladies with this type of amazing chance just kicking themselves. So please, I beg of you Fortitude stand up and be appropriate, not catty. Because if you continue like this, you will all get picked off one by one and I will have to continue to watch the freak show/plant/Glenn Beck wannabe David stink up the screen. And I really can’t handle that.
