BIG BANG THEORY Extends Hiatus While Kaley Cuoco Recuperates

Penny needs a dose of Sheldon’s “Soft Kitty” song, STAT! Kaley Cuoco, who plays Penny on THE BIG BANG THEORY, remains hospitalized after fracturing her leg in a horseback-riding accident on September 13th. She’s already been written out of one episode, and now it looks like she’ll probably miss a few more.

The Big Bang Theory was already scheduled to be on hiatus this week, and they plan to extend the shutdown into next week as well. The extra time should allow Big Bang Theory execs to figure out how to work around Penny’s absence.

Zap2it has the following statement from Warner Bros. TV: “Warner Bros. Television, CBS and Chuck Lorre Productions all wish Kaley a speedy recovery, and we look forward to her return. In order to allow her more recuperation time and to adjust future storylines, The Big Bang Theory is taking a two-week production hiatus. However, the show’s broadcast schedule will continue as planned, with no airdate interruptions.”

The Big Bang Theory makes its big move to Thursday nights this season. It premieres on Thursday, September 23rd at 8pm on CBS. You can find all the Fall 2010 TV premiere dates here.
