Jennifer Morrison Joins HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER is ready to get back to its premise and Jennifer Morrison is going to help. Entertainment Weekly reports that Morrison, whose House character hung up her scrubs last season, is joining the show for multiple episodes as Zooey, a political activist and love interest for Ted.

Ted and Zooey will first meet when Zooey protests the demolition of an old New York hotel to make way for the Goliath Bank Tower that Ted is designing. Executive producer Craig Thomas teased Entertainment Weekly that the pair’s relationship will be “very complicated and interesting.”

Zooey isn’t going to be just a date of the week. According to Thomas, she’s actually “the biggest female character we’ve maybe ever added to the show in Ted’s life.” He explained “This is going to be a big saga for Ted. [It’s] going to be a big overarching story that will take Ted on a journey that we’re really excited about.”

Thomas didn’t say whether or not Zooey will be the long-awaited mother, but he did promise that season six gets “back to the fact that Ted is the ‘I’ in How I Met Your Mother. There’s going to be a huge push forward for Ted on that search.”

What do you think about Ted getting a big new love interest? Do you think Zooey will end up being the mother or is she just another step in the journey?

The sixth season premiere of How I Met Your Mother airs on CBS Monday, September 20 at 8pm/7 central. You can find all the fall premiere dates and times here.
