Kid Zone: TIMMY TIME Review

Timmy Time

Here at Daemon’s TV, we review a wide variety of shows ranging from scripted to non scripted shows but what we don’t do enough is highlight some really cool shows for kids that parents should be checking out. I want to remedy that by talking about a really cool new stop-motion animation series on Disney: TIMMY TIME.

According to the official press release, Timmy Time follows the adventures of Timmy, a little lamb with a lot to learn as he enters preschool. Fans of Aardman’s hit children’s series Shaun the Sheep will recognize Timmy as the baby lamb on the farm who is frequently drawn into all kinds of chaotic adventures by the mischievous older sheep. Used to having his way by being “the only lamb in the flock,” Timmy is now heading to preschool to graze on some important life lessons about playing nicely with others, namely his fellow classmates of the furry, feathered and spiky types.

I took a look at the two episodes of Timmy Time “Go Kart Timmy” and “Timmy the Train” and have to say that I was impressed with what I saw. The show focuses on teaching Timmy how to deal with situations that mirror what a typically pre-schooler would face on a daily basis such as learning how to play by the rules, interact well with others and be an all around well adjusted kid.

What is even more interesting than the lessons learned watching Timmy get into hot water is the medium of the show which does not use any dialogue at all so we are just listening to some cute animal noises all throughout the episode. That is actually genius because it allows the animation to be accessible to most kids regardless of the language they speak.

Overall, Timmy Time is a ridiculously cute series for kids that teaches positive lessons in a way that is widely accessible to kids from all backgrounds. I highly suggest this show to any parents that want to expose their young one to a quality kid show.

Timmy Time is scheduled to air in North America from September 13, 2010 on Disney Channel’s Playhouse Disney. Check your local listings for exact times.
