ENTOURAGE “Lose Yourself” Review (Season 7 Finale)

Entourage (HBO) Season 7

Unfortunately, our dear Amie wasn’t available to write her Entourage review this week. So I will be taking over for her this time around and hopefully do her proud. So here it goes.

ENTOURAGE “Lose Yourself” Review Season 7 Episode 10 (Season Finale) – The final episode of Season 7 of Entourage “Lose Yourself” just finished airing and for my part, marks the end of the worst Entourage season ever.

In “Lose Yourself”, every character on Entourage managed to fail on some level. They either failed themselves, their friends or both. Worst of all, I felt that they failed their audience by delving into untold levels of surreal idiocy to the point that everyone just lost their likability and made you want to go: Really?

Let’s start with Eric aka the worst manager in the history of managers. Through his weak handling of the situation with Vince, he found himself contemplating flying on his own with Scott, Scott “The Guy who pushed Drugs on Vince – Scott. Really Eric? That sounds like a good idea? You go on ahead and make an ass of yourself even more.

What about our boy Turtle? The entire season he is chasing after people to invest in a business venture just because he wants to impress his new girlfriend. Calling and begging different stars all throughout the various episodes; only to find Mark Cuban to invest in it. Really? Billionaire Mark Cuban is going to go into business with Turtle, who has literally nothing to back him up except Vince’s name. Yup, that’s believable…NOT.

Let’s move on to Drama. I actually liked Drama this season. As much as he was whining about getting work, in the end, he is the one with the better prospects this season than everyone else. In tonight’s episode, I was with him all the way as he was trying to gather the troops to save Vince. That is until he walked into Eric’s assistant and forgot all about it. Really, Drama? Your brother is in the wind somewhere on coke and you stop to chit chat with the assistant.*** Head Shaking In Despair***

I can’t talk about Entourage without talking about my favorite character, Ari. Sorry I meant to say my previously favorite character Ari. To be fair, it’s not entirely his fault. The fact that he seems to be married to the most ungrateful woman in the world who seems intent on complaining about her husband’s attitude but not so much on the money/lifestyle that said attitude has brought her family. I would forgive Ari and blame it all on the Mrs. if he didn’t spend 99.9% of every episode apologizing to her. Really, Ari? Dude, man the F$%^ up. Yes, you are not perfect but god, you are not the spawn of Satan either. Tell her off for once in your life and stand your ground like the man I know you are.

As you can imagine, I saved “the best” for last. Vinnie, Vinnie, Vinnie! Tssk Tssk Tssk… Now folks, it would be easy for me to say that the coke binging, porn star dating and the utter lack of shame that our boy Vince displayed all throughout the season was what bothered me. It did but actually I am willing to overlook that. What I can’t overlook is the glaring lack of substantive reason behind his downward spiral. Ok, I know what you are going to say: “Well, the reason why Vinnie went bonkers was because he had that terrible stunt accident that really traumatized him and caused all this craziness.” Well to that I answer: “Really?” So you are telling me that someone that has a near death experience will suddenly go on a coke binge and screw up his life. Hmm? Possible? Yes. Likely? Hell no. Had the writers set this whole crazy Vince thing better, I might have believed it but since that didn’t happen, I just have to keep rolling my eyes and say damn.

As you can tell, I am not a fan of this season of Entourage. I think that all I got out of it is seeing some of my favorite characters on TV do some disappointing crap that really took me out of the show. Why this happened is an unknown for me. Maybe it’s the fact that the writers know that Entourage‘s last season is coming up; maybe it’s just me and I have outgrown the show. Hell I don’t know; it just didn’t work for me.

What about you? What did you think of this finale episode of season 7 of ENTOURAGE “Lose Yourself”? Did you like it more than me? Do the choices that the characters made this season, make sense to you? Am I missing something? Did you like the season more than me? Sound off in the comment section below.
