NBC will be putting new holiday shows from SHREK and KUNG FU PANDA on the air. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has ordered two half-hour animated specials from DreamWorks Animation to air this fall.

“Scared Shrekless” will be paired with a repeat of last year’s “Monsters vs. Aliens: Mutant Pumpkins” on October 28. In it, Shrek and the gang will spend the night in Lord Farquaad’s haunted castle telling spooky stories. Fiona, Donkey, Puss in Boots and other fairy-tale characters from the Shrek franchise will appear.

“Kung Fu Panda Holiday Special” will air November 24 along with a repeat of “Merry Madagascar.” Po will be ordered to host a winter feast at the Jade Palace and will then have to choose between his family obligations and duties as Dragon Warrior.

Angela Bromstad, president of primetime entertainment at NBC and Universal Media Studios, said about the specials, “NBC is proud to team with DreamWorks Animation to broadcast such quality holiday programming that includes some of their many popular film characters. These animated specials will provide top-flight family entertainment for fans of all ages.”
