THE WALKING DEAD Already Renewed For Season 2

The Walking Dead

AMC’s new show, THE WALKING DEAD, hasn’t even premiered yet, but it has already been renewed for a second season. According to IGN, writer and director Frank Darabont has confirmed that a second season is now officially in the works. Producer Gale Anne Hurd also revealed that the second season will expand to 13-episodes, with filming apparently beginning in February 2011. The six-episode first season of The Walking Dead will debut on AMC on Halloween night.

The Walking Dead TV show is based on the graphic novel by Robert Kirkman. It tells the story of a group of survivors living in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse.

Considering the overwhelming positive response to The Walking Dead season 1 trailer, this news isn’t a total surprise. It was well received at Comic Con and the buzz has only increased since then.

The Walking Dead premieres on Sunday, October 31 at 10pm with a 90-minute episode. You can find all the Fall 2010 TV premiere dates here.
