EUREKA “The Ex-Files” Advance Review

Eureka (Season 4)

I had an opportunity to get an early view of this Friday’s episode of EUREKA, “The Ex-Files”, and, on a scale of 1 to 10, it scored a 16. This week, some of the folks in Eureka have visitors they didn’t expect to ever see again. Meanwhile, Dr. Grant is having a hard time accepting the differences between present day Eureka and the vision he had for it back in the 1940’s. When an important device is stolen from Global Dynamics, Carter and the rest of the Eureka crew are forced to face some harsh realities.

This was a great episode to watch that was full of cool moments, especially for those who have been watching Eureka since Season 1. The writing for the episode was great–Amy Berg must have had fun writing some of the scenes between Carter, Allison, and their respective visitors. I also appreciated how well the plot of this episode worked in the overall storyline of the alternate Eureka timeline, and it had me guessing as to what was going to happen next.

After last week’s episode, I wasn’t really sure where the writers were going with Beverly. Now that I’ve seen this episode, I can see that she was the perfect character to bring in for Dr. Grant’s storyline and setup a exciting second half to the season.

My other favorite part of the episode were the scenes with Stark (Ed Quinn) and Tess (Jaime Ray Newman) because you could tell they were enjoying being back on the show. Special uber cool geek points to the Eureka team for having Callis do the Battlestar Galactica shoutout in the middle of the episode, a nice nod to the fans of both shows.

Be sure to watch “The Ex-Files”, Friday at 9 PM EST, then come back here to let me know what you thought of the episode.
