LIE TO ME “Exposed” Review

LIE TO ME "Exposed" Review

In this episode of LIE TO ME, called “Exposed”, Foster’s boyfriend (who is with the DEA) gets kidnapped. The leader of the kidnappers wants information on who killed his father. Cal convinces them to hire him so that he can read Burns to get the information they want instead of beating it out Burns. When Foster goes along as well, Cal decides that their only shot at survival is to pit the kidnappers against each other. Then he and Burns play a very dangerous game of who can tell the biggest lie.

Meanwhile back at the office, Reynolds questions Burns’ partner, who’s been seen around him a lot lately looking very suspicious. Turns out she had orders to kill the dead man, but found that she couldn’t when she started to develop actual feelings for him. Oh and the guy also knocked her up, as Cal so eloquently put it at one point. Burns did what she could not and though Cal figures that out, he keeps up the charade to keep all of them alive until Reynolds and his team finds them.

My favorite bits…

The first shot and the first line out of Cal’s mouth cracking me up: “Whatchoo call that? Stupid on a plate?”

Agreeing that Cal had a point, if he hadn’t been following Dave no one would have known he was kidnapped. That makes up for it, right?

Reynolds saying that they don’t scoff at words like “clearance”, they laugh their asses off. Haha!

Cal not fighting Foster when she said she was going with him. Shows me that he sees her as a real equal to not try and pull the “oh no you’re not” macho line with her. He knows she can do the job, even if her boyfriend is involved. Plus he probably knew that she’d kick his ass if he tried to stop her. LOL.

Burns being a smart ass even while tied up and beaten. Gotta admire the guy, he’s got balls.

Cal saying “Bloody hell! You really are Captain America, aren’t you?” to Burns.

Cringing when I realize what Cal was planning on doing with the knife. Only one cure that I know of for a collapsed lung and that’s inserting a chest tube. Oh boy.

Literally jumping up with my hands over my face when Cal made to plunge the knife in Burns’ chest. I nearly fainted in relief when Burns said he would talk.

Jumping again when the leader shot his own man, I had no idea that would happen. At that point I was wondering what Cal was going to do next since his original plan of turning the men against each other didn’t seem to be working.

The way Foster took the news that Burns was being moved and his cover identity changed. Just watching her face crumble but not going after him, knowing that it needed to be done to save him, oh man that just killed me.

Cal telling Emily if he was an idiot he would get into “far more mundane trouble” than he already did.

Loving the fact that Emily had no qualms about telling her father that she read her grandmother’s diary, and asking about the paternity test.

Cal telling Emily that he saw something in her mom one night and theorized that it was probably her floating around inside. That was beyond sweet.

Emily telling Cal he was always going to be alone, then Cal remarking that he wasn’t alone before walking outside to talk to Foster.

Okay so I’m really on the fence about the idea of Foster and Cal getting together (because let’s face it, that’s where Lie To Me seems to be going, right?). On the one hand I love the two of them together because of what they already have, which is great chemistry. But on the other hand I really enjoy the friendship they have and don’t want that ruined. Ugh, it’s such a hard decision but luckily I’m not the one who has to make it so I’m just going to sit back and see what the wonderful writers of this show are going to do instead.
