Dexter’s Courtney Ford to THE VAMPIRE DIARIES. Is Joshua Jackson Next?

Courtney Ford, who played Trinity’s daughter Christine on Dexter, has been cast in a potentially recurring role on THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, Entertainment Weekly reports. She will play Vanessa, a Duke graduate student who helps Damon, Alaric, and Elena go through Isobel’s research. Executive director Kevin Williamson had previously told EW that the Vanesssa character is “not without her own intrigue. It’ll be a nice little part for someone. And it’s a part that could evolve into this massive story line or we could gut her like a fish.” Ford will first appear in the third episode of the new season.

In other potential casting news, according to E! Online, Fringe’s Joshua Jackson has spoken to Williamson, who happens to be his former Dawson’s Creek boss, about appearing on The Vampire Diaries. Jackson said he was afraid it would be “more sort of inside baseball, comedy if I popped up, but who knows…”

The second season of The Vampire Diaries premieres Thursday September 9 at 8pm/7 central on the CW.
