Is Chris Isaak The New Simon Cowell?

Simon Cowell’s exit from American Idol has left a gaping hole on judge’s row and it appears Chris Isaak could be stepping in to fill the void. As Fox and producers gear up for the 10th season of “American Idol,” both the network and the show’s producers want someone from the music industry to fill the void.

The network has entertained several options for replacing Cowell on the show, but their desire to replace Cowell with a leading figure in the music industry puts Isaak in a good position. Among the others that have been given the once over, or lobbied for the job, are rocker Bret Michaels, Harry Connick Jr., and Donald Trump. The network hopes to have a new judge in place in time to join the road show during auditions in September.

Isaak is no stranger to TV having appeared on shows such as “Eastwick,” “Cold Case,” “Smallville,” and even his own Showtime series “The Chris Isaak Show.” Isaak’s music accolades include the 1989 hit “Wicked Game.”
