Elijah Wood Cast in FX Comedy Pilot WILFRED July 6, 2010 FX, News Actor Elijah Wood has signed on to join the cast of the FX comedy pilot WILFRED. Wood will star alongside Jason Gann in the pilot which is based upon the Australian show of the same title. The original series follows the story of a girl named Sarah, her dog Wilfred (Jason Gann) and her boyfriend, Adam. The only thing is only Adam sees Wilfred as a person dressed in a dog costume. Gann co-created and starred in the Australian series, and will play the title character in the American version of the show. Wood will play the role of Ryan. It seems that the names have been changed in the US version with Wood playing the role of Adam (now renamed Ryan). David Zuckerman (“Family Guy,” “American Dad,” “King of the Hill”) wrote the adapted pilot script for FX and will serve as executive producer. Randall Einhorn (“The Office,” “Parks & Recreation”) will direct the pilot. The series is expected to begin shooting later this summer. Wilfred will mark Elijah Wood’s first starring role in a television series.
