TRUE BLOOD “Bad Blood” (Season 3 Premiere) Early Review

True Blood - Evan Rachel Wood

Do you hear that? It’s the sound of fans cheering for the return of TRUE BLOOD, and having had a chance the watch the first episode “Bad Blood” already, I had to share some of my thoughts about the new season.

So what can you expect from the premiere, well how about we go back to our favorite format and take things one character at a time.

Sookie and Bill
Well, last time we saw these two, Bill proposed and while Sookie was in the bathroom taking it all in, Bill got kidnapped, but the thing is we never found out by whom!! So of course the biggest question on our minds as the season begins is who the hell kidnapped Bill?

Well, season 3 opens right where season 2 ended with Sookie running out of the restaurant looking for Bill, who is nowhere to be found. So do we find out who took him in the first episode? Well, not exactly. Although we do see his kidnappers we will not find out who sent them until episode 2. So sorry, I can’t tell you who they are, my lips are sealed, but it definitely sets up a pretty awesome storyline for this third season.
As for Sookie, well she’s on a quest to find Bill and will lean on the only person she could turn to: Eric.

Speaking of Eric, you ladies will be happy to know we will see a whole lot of him in the first episode (and I’m not talking about the amount of time he’s onscreen – oh yeah!). But that’s not all, Eric is dealing with the Magister and his cracking down on people selling V, which is bad news for him since we all know about his involvement.

In the season 2 finale, Jessica ended up biting a human. Well, now she has to deal with the aftermath of that and it’s not pretty, not pretty at all. Unfortunately, we will not see much of Hoyt and her this episode.

Jason and Andy
After shooting Eggs last season, Jason has to deal with his feelings about the whole thing. However things are not that easy since he is sworn to secrecy by Andy who took the blame for the shooting. I do have to mention my favorite line from Andy when speaking to Jason: “Conscious off, dick on.” Freaking brilliant!

Sam is looking for his family, but that’s all I can really say about that. However, Sam has one of the best scenes of the episode, which happens to be with Bill. Now I can’t tell you what happens but you’ll know it when it happens, I let out a big “what?!” when that happened.

Tara and Lafayette
Tara is dealing with the death of Eggs. Lafayette, being a great cousin, is there to help her through it. Unfortunately, so is her mom.

And finally, True Blood is known for its insane cliffhanger and this one will not disappoint either. You will be throwing things at your TV when the episode ends. Seriously! Having seen the next two episodes, I can tell you the good news is that the show continues to get better and better, but more about that next week.

It is clear that True Blood is back and I am glad to say they have kept up the incredible high quality of the show. To me this show is near perfection, so I can’t say anything bad about it. All I can say is make sure you don’t miss the season 3 premiere of True Blood tonight, Sunday June 13 at 9pm on HBO, you won’t regret it.

In the meantime, you can check out some photos and clips from Season 3 of True Blood.
