ROBERT KLEIN: UNFAIR AND UNBALANCED (HBO) Early Review

Robert Klein Unfair and Unbalanced (HBO)

HBO will be airing a new Robert Klein comedy special this Saturday June 12th at 10 PM/9c. For those of you that aren’t familiar with him, Klein is a talented comedian, actor, and singer. He actually was the first comedian to ever have his own HBO special back in 1975, where he claimed he was the first one to drop the f-bomb on the channel. If that is true, I’d like to shake his hand. He’s also done some TV and movie appearances on SNL, Law & Order, and the new J. Lo movie “The Back-Up Plan

Robert Klein reminds me a bit of a Jewish version of George Carlin (both New Yorkers, both have/had amazing facial expressions and both lean towards the political left). Robert Klein absolutely kills at observational and political comedy. The title of the show “Unfair and Unbalanced” is a not-so-subtle swipe at a well known news organization. Although Klein leans towards the left, he takes shots at figures from both sides of the aisle, which was great.

He begins the show by singing a song accompanied by a full symphony orchestra. The song is a hilarious word of caution to President Barack Obama to not screw up his presidency by having an affair like Bill Clinton. Don’t let me mislead you that Klein is purely political. He also does some great bits about old age, television and foreign tech support.

I thoroughly enjoyed Robert Klein: Unfair and Unbalanced and I hope you do too. Don’t forget to check it out this Saturday June 12th at 9/8c on HBO!

Here are a couple teaser quotes from “Unfair and Unbalanced”:

Most Americans probably think fellatio is a character from Shakespeare “Oh, sweet fellatio is dead”!

“Quail was that generation’s Palin”

“Hi, Billy Mayes here, and even though I’m dead, these cheap, tasteless, sons of bitches are still showing this commercial!”
