GHOST HUNTERS ACADEMY “The New Class” Early Review

GHOST HUNTERS ACADEMY celebrates it’s Season Two premier this Wednesday June 2nd at 9/8c on Syfy. I got the opportunity to check out an advanced copy of the first episode, “The New Class” this week and thought I would share with you some of the details.

For starters, this season of Ghost Hunters Academy is slightly different than last season in that this time there will be an elimination each week. I think this is going to be an awesome and exciting addition to the show. Also, Jason Hawes from Ghost Hunters will judging who gets voted off! Pretty cool, right? Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango return to round out the cast as team leaders. Another cool thing about Season Two is that they are visiting some of my favorite past Ghost Hunters locations (Mark Twain House, Stanley Hotel, and the Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum).

“The New Class” takes place at Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Louisville, KY. When the Ghost Hunters crew were there a few years ago, they caught some impressive apparitions on the infrared. In “The New Class”, Steve, Tango and their students also catch some great evidence both on audio and on video. Of the eight contestants, the backgrounds include law enforcement, professional arm wrestling, film, and nursing. So far, I agree with who has been deemed the stronger and weaker members of the group. Jason Hawes comes off as a tough judge that is going to tell people straight, and so far it’s made for some great television. I’m already looking forward to episode two.

If you’ve never checked out GHA, I highly recommend it. Don’t think of it as a reality show because it’s actually much more than that. With a typical reality show, the focus is more on the contestants, the relationship building, and the eliminations. What makes GHA great is that it is more about capturing compelling evidence, so it’s like having two shows in one.

Don’t forget to check out Ghost Hunters Academy this Wednesday June 2nd at 9/8c on Syfy!
