The executive producer of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Private Practice” told TV Guide in an interview that she sees a crossover episode in the near future for both shows. Shonda Rhimes (Pictured Above), the executive producer for both shows, told TV Guide that a crossover episode is possible early next season.

Another crossover episode between the shows seemed inevitable after Caterina Scorsone signed on with “Private Practice” earlier this season to play the role of Amelia Shepherd, the younger sister of Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) from “Grey’s Anatomy”. Rhimes stated in the interview that “I would love to see what happens when Derek, his sister and their mom – played previously by Tyne Daley – get together”.

Both hit TV shows appear on ABC’s Thursday night lineup with “Grey’s Anatomy” airing at 9 pm EST and “Private Practice” immediately following at 10 pm. “Private Practice” had their season three finale last night while the season six finale for “Grey’s Anatomy” airs Thursday, May 20th.
