HBO’s TREME Renewed For Season 2

Treme On HBO

It only took one episode and HBO already gave its new original series, TREME, a second season. The premiere episode drew about 1.4 million viewers – when its various replays were factored in – putting it above co-creator David Simon’s “The Wire’s” final season average (890,000 viewers per week).

“We would have picked up this show last week,” HBO president Michael Lombardo told The Hollywood Reporter. “We’ve seen the first nine episodes it’s as strong as any show we’ve seen. Much like ‘The Wire,’ the audience is so passionate and so invested. We’re about servicing our subscriber base and I believe that people will become addicted to this show. We have to be a place where this kind of excellence is giving space to continue.”

Production for season 2 is set to being this fall with a premiere date scheduled in April 2011. Make sure you also read our Treme review.
