Wondercon Review: HUMAN TARGET “Christopher Chance” Season Finale

Yesterday, there was a special advance screening of the season finale episode of the HUMAN TARGET titled “Christopher Chance” airing Wednesday, April 14 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.

“Christopher Chance” starts with the team getting attacked and detained by a group of masked men headed by a bad guy played by Tim Omundson (Psych) who is looking for a special book that Chance allegedly has stolen. This triggers a flashback where we see Chance before he was …..well Chance. As we suspected, it turns out that he wasn’t always the good guy that we know today. So this episode sort of delves into how he evolved and what prompted him to change.

This was meant to be sort of an origin story in which we see the birth of a hero. Unfortunately it felt a little rushed and quite frankly didn’t really make a ton of sense. There was no crisis of conscience moment that justifies Chance embracing his good side although there is some allusion at a previous incident that might sparked the change in Chance but we don’t see it. So I don’t feel we get to see a good reason for his change.

Also in the season finale, we also get to see how he meets and connects with Winston (Chi Mc Bride). We also see Guerrero (Jackie Earle Haley) before he became the “good” that we have learned to love (lookout for some badass fight scenes between Guerrero and Chance). We also see how Chance meets his dog as a puppy. Finally, “Christopher Chance” is also chock full of guest stars including Armand Assante, Amy Acker, Lennie James and…..wait for it, Lee Majors, the Six Million dollar Man.

Overall, this was an interesting episode mostly because of the flashback scenes and the guest stars. Plus it ends with a bit of a cliffhanger. Definitely worth seeing. Feel free to share your thoughts below and also if you like what I write, stalk me on Twitter.
