HAPPY TOWN Panel (WonderCon 2010)

Happy Town Panel Wondercon 2010 (37)

Happy Town is a new show that will soon air on ABC. The story takes place in the small town of Haplin (or Happy Town like the locals call it) and centers around some disturbing crimes that are shaking up the town. Some of the cast and crew of the show attended the panel at Wondercon 2010. The panel of Happy Town included Geoff Stults (She’s Out of My League), Amy Acker (Dollhouse), and M. C. Gainey (Lost) and producers Josh Appelbaum (Mission Impossible IV), André Nemec (Mission Impossible IV), and Scott Rosenberg (October Road).

First, we got to see an advance screening of pilot episode of Happy Town. It was pretty cool. A mix of Stephen king Mystery with a dash of Twin Peaks mixed in there. Has some flaws with some weak storylines here and there but overall worth a look.

After a screening for the pilot, some of the cast and producers were there to answer a few questions.

Here are some of the things that we can expect from this season of Happy Town:

– There are lots of clues buried in the first episode about who the magic man is.

-The end of first season, which includes 8 episodes, will reveal who the magic man is. He is someone that we know all along.

– In the second episode Tommy (Geoff Stults) is forced to be in charge and be a grown up, but he’s not really good at it. It will also get a lot worse for him throughout the season.

– The creators promised a lot of questions will be answered throughout the episodes.

– The creators have an endgame in mind for the series. However, a lot of the resolutions and answers to the questions about the show are things that will lead you to ask more questions. The answers to the mysteries will run much deeper.

– The revelation to the audience of who the magic man is different than the revelation of who he is to the characters on the show.

– Since there are a few characters in the show, every character will get an episode and time to shine.

At first, there was some uncertainty about whether this show would have any legs but it seemed to have been well received by the audience. Now ABC must hope that America will react the same way when the show debuts on WEDNESDAY, APRIL 28 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET). You can see more photos of the panel below
