COMMUNITY “Romantic Expressionism” Review

What did you think of tonight’s episode of COMMUNITY, “Romantic Expressionism?”

I don’t know why it took them so long, but tonight the men of Greendale finally noticed that Annie is smokin’ hot. Once she stopped waiting around for Troy and let her hair down a bit, she suddenly had more men than she could handle. Unfortunately, the guys interested in her are Vaughn, Starburns, and Troy. I don’t like her with any of these guys! I think Annie and Jeff belong together because they have great chemistry. Vaughn just seems too dumb for her, though I will admit that the song he sang to her at the end was sweet.

So, I’m trying to decide if Jeff’s motivation for breaking up Annie and Vaughn is jealousy or if he really has fatherly feelings for her. I think the writers purposely left Jeff’s true feelings unclear so they can come back to it in the future. Whatever Jeff and Britta’s motivations were, they scheme well together and it was fun to see them act as parents to the group.

The long, lingering stares the study group gave each other around the table was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen on Community. Even Annie and Britta were checking each other out. The best was when Troy and Abed simultaneously said: “They’re just jealous.” The group really has come to care about each other, which makes the show even better.

I always like the Troy and Abed scenes at the end, but tonight’s Kickpuncher reenactment has to be the best yet. Abed actually isn’t half bad as a woman, but that is one sex scene I do not want to see.

My favorite quotes and moments:

Senor Chang lounging on a beanbag while in a white tuxedo and drinking malt liquor.

Jeff: You know what I don’t get? He never wears a shirt, he never wears shoes, why hasn’t he died from lack of service?

Abed: Actually, if she doesn’t mind reinforcing the stereotype, I bet Shirley would have fun talking smack at a movie.

Jeff: Creepier and creepier dudes will start thinking of her as an option and it all starts with Vaughn. He’s a gateway douchebag.

Troy: I have the weirdest boner.

Abed: When you guys first came in we were as wholesome and healthy as the family on the Brady Bunch, and now we’re as dysfunctional and incestuous as the cast of the Brady Bunch.
