COMMUNITY “Interpretive Dance” Review

Community Cast

What did you think of tonight’s episode of COMMUNITY, “Interpretive Dance?”

I’m happy to say that this was a really funny episode and much better than the Jack Black episode last week. The group’s banter in the first five minutes alone just proves why this is one of the most underrated shows on TV right now.

On top of being funny, this episode also showed us different sides to some of our favorite study group members. It seems that some of them are keeping secrets: Troy and Britta are secretly taking dance classes and Jeff is secretly dating Professor Slater (who we hadn’t seen since the Halloween episode). The biggest surprise may be that Britta has some secret feelings for Jeff. Britta was really thrown off her game when she found out Jeff and his girlfriend were getting serious. I think I like Jeff and Britta better when they’re bickering, so I’m kind of meh about this development. It’s nice to see Jeff showing some maturity for a change though, so maybe that’s what Britta was reacting to.

Pierce was his usual hilarious self tonight and had some of my favorite quotes:

“You know, when I was thirty people used to wish that I was dead to my face. That’s called respect.”

Britta: “Who is the lucky brunette?”

Jeff: “Last name: Beeswax. First name: Noneofya”

Pierce: “My third wife was biracial.”

“Culturally it’s unacceptable, but it’s theatrical dynamite!”

Other favorite moments and quotes:

Professor Slater referring to Britta as “that blonde in your Spanish class with an infinite supply of leather jackets.”

Abed dancing to Merry Happy by Kate Nash.

The names of the cast were the answers to Troy and Abed’s crossword.

Overall, I thought this was a fun episode and it was good to see some character development and references to previous storylines. What did you think? Are you loving Community as much as I am?
