BIG LOVE Season 4 Review

Big Love Season 4 poster

This Sunday, January 10, HBO’s original series, BIG LOVE returns for its fourth season at 9pm.

I hadn’t watched the show since season 1, but in order to get a quick catch up I decided to watch HBO’s video recap before I sat down to watch the season 4 premiere. Now while the recap didn’t explain everything, it did give me enough to understand what was going on.

I enjoyed the first episode, “Free at Last” so much, that I ended up watching the second one as well, “The Greater Good” (which will air on January 17) back-to-back, and then I wished I had more to watch. So needless to say Season 4 is off to a great start.

It looks like this season is going to go a different direction from previous seasons. First of all, the family might be ready to come out of hiding their polygamy into the spotlight as Bill decides to run for State senator.

The events of last season’s finale also plays a big part in the first two episodes, as everyone is trying to deal with the after effects of it. There are some pretty funny moments that result from it.

The new Mormon-friendly casino that Bill is opening with his Native-American partners is also ready for opening day. We’ll most likely see more of how everything turns out throughout the season and I’m really looking forward to finding out the storyline develops.

For those who like Sarah’s character, you’ll also be happy to know that there is going to be a new development in her and Scott’s relationship in the second episode.

Overall, it’s a great start to the season and as I said I am hooked. After 3 seasons, it seems that the Big Love writers don’t have a shortage of inspiration. The show just grabs your attention and before you know it you have finished watching an hour episode.

And even though I sometimes secretly wish the Henricksons get caught, I still want to find out what happens to these characters, which is a testament to how good the show is.

So don’t forget to watch the Season 4 premiere on Big Love on January 10 at 9pm on HBO.
