THE WALKING DEAD To Become a New AMC Series

The Walking Dead issue 50

Robert Kirkman’s comic book,THE WALKING DEAD, could be AMC’s new series, as this one has acquired the rights to the comic.

Frank Darabont, who wrote the scripts for such films as “The Shawshank Redemption” and “The Green Mile,” is attached to write, direct, and executive produce the show, along with Anne Hurd and David Alpert, who will both executive produce as well.

“The Walking Dead” chronicles the months and years following a zombie apocalypse where a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, travel in search of a safe, secure home. The comic explores the challenges of life in a world overrun by zombies that take a toll on the survivors. Over time, they grow willing to do anything to survive, so the interpersonal conflicts sometimes present a greater danger to their continuing survival than the zombies who roam the country.

With AMC’s track record, I think it’s safe to say that this might be another great show. I am personally curious to find out how it turns out, and I’m not even a fan of zombie movies, so that’s saying something.
