New TV on DVD Releases for the Week of August 11 2009

Here is a list of the new TV DVD Releases for the week of August 11 2009 (for movie releases head over to Daemon’s Movies):

Synopsis: An edgy, contemporary spin-off of the iconic drama “Beverly Hills, 90210,” the new “90210” looks at life through the eyes of Annie Wilson (Shenae Grimes, “Degrassi: The Next Generation”) and her brother Dixon (Tristan Wilds, “The Wire”), whose first day at West Beverly Hills High School leaves no doubt they’re not in Kansas anymore. The Wilson family, including dad Harry (Rob Estes, “Melrose Place”) and mom Debbie (Lori Loughlin, “Summerland”), has relocated to Beverly Hills to keep an eye on Harry’s mother Tabitha (Jessica Walter, “Arrested Development”), a feisty-but-faded former television star and a charter member of the Betty Ford Clinic.

Cast: Shenae Grimes, Tristan Wilds, Rob Estes, Lori Loughlin, Jessica Walter, AnnaLynne McCord, Dustin Milligan, Ryan Eggold, Jessica Stroup, Michael Steger,

Recommendations: Fans of the original Beverly Hills, 90210, might want to give this new version a shot. Although I gave up on it after a couple of episodes. It’s just not my cup of tea.

Lie To Me

Synopsis: DR. CAL LIGHTMAN (Tim Roth) is the world’s leading deception expert. If you lie to Lightman, he’ll see it in your face and your posture or hear it in your voice. If you shrug your shoulder, rotate your hand or even just slightly raise your lower lip, Lightman will spot the lie. By analyzing facial expressions and involuntary body language, he can read feelings ranging from hidden resentment to sexual attraction to jealousy. His work gives him the knowledge and skill set to expertly deceive others as well as detect lies. But as Lightman well knows, his scientific ability is both a blessing and a curse in his personal life, where family and friends deceive each other as readily as criminals and strangers do.
Lightman heads a team of experts at The Lightman Group who assist federal law enforcement, government agencies and local police with their most difficult cases.

Cast: Tim Roth, Kelli Williams, Brendan Hines, Monica Raymund

Recommendations: I love Lie to Me, it’s so fascinating to see Tim Roth in action every week as Cal Lightman. It’s entertainment where you actually learn something every week. If you haven’t seen the show yet, this is your chance to check it out.
