New TV on DVD Releases for the Week of August 4 2009

Here is a list of the new TV DVD Releases for the week of August 4 2009 (for movie releases head over to Daemon’s Movies):

Flight of the Conchords (The Complete Season 2)

Synopsis: Flight of the Conchords is a Grammy Award-winning New Zealand comedy duo composed of Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement. Billing themselves as “Formerly New Zealand’s fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo”, the group uses a combination of witty observation, characterisation and acoustic folk guitars. The duo’s comedy and music became the basis of a BBC radio series and then an American television series, which premiered in 2007, also called Flight of the Conchords. (Source: Wikipedia)

Recommendations: I don’t watch the show, but I do know that it has a following and I’m sure fans will love to get their hands on the second season.

Labor Pains

Synopsis: Thea’s (Lohan) life is not what she had planned – she is stuck at a dead-end job at a publishing company, raising her little sister, dating a complete loser and, to top it all off, she is behind on her rent. Thea tries to make the best of the situation, but when her anal boss, Mr. Steinwald (Parnell), decides that her latest screw up is the final straw, she has to think quickly to save her job. Put on the spot, the first thing that pops into Her mind is to tell Mr. Steinwald that she’s pregnant. And just like that, the whole office is buzzing about her big news!
With the help of her friend and co-worker, Lisa (Hines), Thea tries to pull off the deception long enough to ensure her job is secure. However the lie quickly spins out of control. Her manager, Nick (Kirby), is trying to open a family division of the company and decides that, since Thea is going through pregnancy herself, she would be the perfect person to head up the new project. So with fake belly in hand, Thea dives into the new position, which includes the task of convincing a famous talk show host (Garofalo) to promote the new book. All the while, a suspicious assistant (Covais) is tracking her every movement. Now fully submerged in the pregnancy culture and facing a budding romance with Nick, will Thea be able to figure a way out of the ruse before it blows up in her face?

Cast: Lindsay Lohan, Cheryl Hines, Chris Parnell, Luke Kirby, Kevin Covais, Janeane Garofalo

Recommendations: I watched this on ABC Family and it was just ok. Nothing exciting, but if you are a fan of ABC Family movies, you might enjoy it.
