NURSE JACKIE “Sweet-N-All” Episode 2 Review

Paul Schulze as Eddie and Edie Falco as Jackie Peyton in Nurse Jackie

I had the opportunity of seeing an early copy of the second episode of NURSE JACKIE “Sweet-N-All,” which airs Monday, June 15, at 10:30pm. I liked this episode even better than the first.

We got a bigger glimpse into the secret life of Jackie tonight – only I’m not sure if I liked what I saw.

For starters, she’s kind of a ho. Not only that, but the worst kind, the married with kids type of ho. Plus she does this thing with her wedding ring that I think is super shady. It is hard to understand why she is doing it but I am sure there must be a real important reason that will surface in later episodes. Plus she sells out muffin girl (Zoey) for something she didn’t do. Just when I was really starting to get annoyed with Jackie, some guy comes out of nowhere and attacks her for no apparent reason.

Essentially, a lot of crazy stuff happens in this episode which sets the tone for what kind of show we can look forward to.

What also really brings it home are the characters:

My absolute favorite is is Dr. O’Hara. She seems to know everything about Nurse Jackie, but doesn’t seem to care in the slightest, if anything; she seems oddly amused by her antics.

Zoey strikes me as the complete opposite of O’Hara: sweet, lacking confidence, and a little naive, which actually brings a nice balance to the show. Dr. Cooper is growing on me too. I have to admit I wasn’t a big fan of him in episode 1, but we saw a different side of him in this episode.

This is why I think this show has a future. It isn’t resting on its Edie Falco laurels; it’s packed with an amazing cast, great characters, and writing that keeps you coming back for more.
